New Mass Schedule for Family of Parishes

Message from Father Jim

Dear Parishioners,

The new Mass schedule is finally being published. I know that you all are very interested in what Masses will be available going forward. It was a bit longer than I had anticipated but the members of the Liturgy Pillar Group wanted to make sure we did the best job we could.

I must commend the members of the Liturgy Pillar. They worked through many concerns, disagreements, and problems to craft a schedule that makes the most sense for our family of parishes. They took many things into consideration. This includes the number of people currently attending each Mass, convenience for parishioners, travel time for the priests, and the mission of the Road to Renewal.

The number of people in the church affects the quality of our worship. When we celebrated the
Assumption of the Blessed Mother in August many people were excited that we had so many people in our churches. This is what we can experience every week if we hold to our faith and are willing to
accept the changes that have taken place.

Changes to the Mass schedule would mean that you might think about going to a different Mass or
maybe a different church. Please know that wherever you go to Mass here in our family of parishes,
your envelopes will go to the benefit of your home parish. Please put in your regular envelope wherever you go.

The change will affect those who have requested Mass intentions. Please do not call parish offices. You will be contacted to reschedule any Mass intentions that might need to be rescheduled. There is a possibility that there will be two Mass intentions at times for the next few months. This is perfectly
acceptable and your loved one will be prayed for. Please be patient as we work this out.

I fully understand that some of you are concerned about these changes. I have explained why we need to get from nineteen Masses to twelve. Please take all this information to heart and focus on the positives: you have a wide variety of opportunities to attend Sunday Mass, and you will be able to do so in a fuller church.

This schedule will be implemented on the weekend of November 25th and 26th.

Christ’s Peace,
Fr Jim Kirkpatrick
