Our Campus

Buildings and Neighborhood
Anchoring the corner of Buffalo Avenue and South 86th Street in the LaSalle section of the City of Niagara Falls, St. John de LaSalle borders the “little river” portion of the Niagara River, and the picturesque Cayuga Island neighborhood. Our campus is surrounded by family homes, apartment buildings and thriving small businesses. St. John’s draws parishioners from the LaSalle area, the broader City of Niagara Falls, the Towns of Niagara and Wheatfield, and other nearby communities such as Grand Island and Lewiston.

St. John de LaSalle Church

Our semi-Gothic church was built in 1959-60 and was fully renovated in 1991 to better suit post-Vatican II liturgical norms. It includes a small chapel for daily Mass and Eucharistic Adoration, as well as private and semi-private confessional spaces. Fully accessible and air-conditioned, the church is both beautiful and highly functional.

St. Charles Borromeo Center

Built in 1976 under the guidance of Monsignor Robert Hogan, the Parish Center is a hub not only of parish life, but of community life in LaSalle. With large and small rooms and a fully equipped kitchen, the Center is used for bingo and other parish functions. It is also open to the community for rentals. When St. John de LaSalle and St. Charles Borromeo Parishes merged in 2008, the building was renamed as the St. Charles Borromeo Center.

Pavilion and Grotto

For more than 40 years, the pavilion has been used for outdoor parish and community events. It is bordered by a scenic outdoor prayer grotto, constructed by members of the Holy Name Society and dedicated to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Pastoral Care Office and Education Center

Built in 1918 as a combination church-school-social hall, this building housed St. John de LaSalle Elementary School until the school was closed by the Diocese of Buffalo in 2006. At that time, the Pastoral Care Office moved into the building. The remainder of the building is used for parish meetings, and also houses the LaSalle Early Childhood Education Center, which is independent of the parish.

Rectory

The rectory was completed in 1921 as the home for priests assigned to St. John de LaSalle.

Community Care Food Pantry

The Community Care Food Pantry is located across from the church, at 8600 Buffalo Avenue.
