Service and Outreach

Rosary Altar Society
The Rosary Altar Society is a spiritual and social group for women of the parish, ages 18 and older. The Society promotes the regular recitation of the Rosary, as well as the care and maintenance of the church sanctuary. Members meet at 7 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month from September through June, usually in the St. Charles Borromeo Center. (Check the bulletin for up-to-date meeting information.) After the Rosary is said, a brief business meeting is held, along with an informational program and refreshments.

Holy Name Men’s Club
The St. John de LaSalle Holy Name Society was chartered in 1914. After a brief hiatus in the early 2000s, the Holy Name Men’s Club restarted several years ago. The group meets monthly, while conducting many ongoing service projects throughout the parish — the most visible being construction of the outdoor prayer grotto in 1983. Today, the Men’s Club helps with holiday food basket distribution, upkeep of the parish grounds, and other projects to support the parish and the surrounding community. New members are always welcome! (Check the bulletin for up-to-date meeting information.)

Community Care/Food Pantry
Volunteers are always welcome to help stock and organize the Community Care Food Pantry, and to help provide other support to our neighbors in need. We will be happy to speak with you about how and when you can help.

Ministry to the Homebound
Parishioners who are trained as extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion are invited to join one of the two teams that visit people who cannot attend Mass due to illness or disability. Visits are made after 8:45 a.m. Mass on Sundays. Each volunteer makes visits once a month.

Catholic Charities Appeal Team
St. John’s raises an astonishing amount of money each year to support the Catholic Charities Appeal. From January through April, volunteer help is always welcome. Volunteers collect donations in the Parish Center, count money, spread the word about the Appeal, and conduct telephone follow-up as needed.
